Centres
The University’s centres work across its faculties, on the questions that do not belong to any one department: teaching technology, distance learning, the arid zone, peace and diplomacy, nuclear energy, enterprise, disaster risk, cultural heritage and counselling.
What the centres are for
A centre differs from a department in what it is for. A department teaches a discipline and supervises its postgraduate students; a centre takes up a subject that cuts across disciplines, and brings the specialists together on it. The Computer and ICT Centre keeps the University’s network and registration portal running. The Centre for Instructional Technology keeps its teaching rooms working. The Centre for Arid Zone Studies studies the dry country immediately around the campus.
Each centre’s page below carries its own staff, its services and its programme of work.
