The Pro-Chancellor chairs the Governing Council — the body that approves the University’s budget, policy and major appointments.
Dr Yunusa Adamu Dangwani
Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council
Dr Yunusa Adamu Dangwani is the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University of Maiduguri Governing Council.
Education and training
He is a medical doctor by profession, a public servant and a consummate politician at the same time. He studied MBBS at the Higher Medical Institute, Plovdiv, Poland, and later at the Postgraduate Medical Academy, St Petersburg, Russia.
Public service
He started his medical career at the Kano State Hospital Management Board, where he rose through the ranks to the position of Chief Urologist. Between 2011 and 2012 he was Chief of Staff to the former Governor of Kano State, Engr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. He was also Commissioner of Water Resources in Kano State between 2012 and 2015.
