The Bursar is the chief financial adviser of the University, responsible for its income, expenditure and investments.

Mal. Ibrahim Umar is the Bursar and Chief Financial Adviser of the University of Maiduguri.
Training and career
He is a 2001 Accountancy graduate and a holder of a Postgraduate Diploma in Accountancy (PGDA) of the University of Maiduguri. He joined the service of the University in 1984 as Clerical Assistant (Accounts).
He is a thoroughbred accountant who started his career in the University from the base and rose to the echelon of his profession as Bursar.
Professional fellowships
He holds fellowships and memberships of many professional bodies, including Fellow Certified National Accountant (FCNA), Fellow of the Institute of Business Diplomacy and Financial Management (FBDFM) and Fellow, Certified Chartered Forensic Accountant (FCCrFA).
