The Registrar is the chief administrative officer of the University, and keeps the records of Council and Senate.
Ahmed Alhaji Lawan
Registrar and Secretary to Council and Senate
Ahmed Alhaji Lawan is the Registrar and Secretary to Council and Senate of the University of Maiduguri. He was appointed Registrar in March 2022.
Education and career
He is a 1989 B.A. Education graduate of the University of Maiduguri. He holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration as well as a Masters Degree in International Relations. He joined the service of the University as Administrative Assistant in 1992 and rose through the ranks to his present position of Registrar.
Before his appointment as Registrar he was on leave of absence at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, where he served as Director of Administration. He is a versatile administrator with experience in almost all segments of the University.
Awards and memberships
He has to his credit many distinguished awards, fellowships and memberships from professional bodies, including Member, National Institute of Management (MNIM) and Fellow, Institute of Chartered Administrators (FCIA).
