Welcome to the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences. The Faculty is housed in the Jibril Aminu Complex and comprises the departments of Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Medical Biochemistry and Nutrition and Dietetics. We begin the training of MBBS, Dental and other medical-related courses, preparing our young doctors and allied health scientists to the normal of the human body for their understanding of disease (pathology) and the interpretation of results to make a diagnosis before they can treat the disease the patient is presenting with.
The Faculty was established at the 293rd meeting of Senate held on Thursday, 29 March 2018.

The organogram of the Faculty consists of the Dean’s office and secretary, the faculty office, the faculty examination office, the offices of the Heads of Departments and their secretaries, staff offices, laboratories and lecture halls.

To produce competent human resources for health and to advance knowledge through research and community education.
Mission
To train high quality personnel in numbers which will make a significant difference to the skill and expertise available for the solution of health problems of the country, and to inculcate the highest standards of ethical and moral values in the trainees so that they would practise their profession selflessly and be relevant to their community, thus contributing to the improvement of the health of the people of Nigeria.
