Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Maiduguri, was carved out of the defuncted Faculty of Social and Management Sciences in 2004, with Professor Dahiru Balami as the Pioneer Dean and Dr. (Mrs.) Ruth Waziz as the Sub-Dean (she is currently a Professor of Marketing). As at that time, the Faculty was made up of four Departments; Accountancy, Business Management, Economics and Public Administration. In 2015, the Department of Accountancy was renamed Department of Accounting, during the tenure of Prof. A.A. Malgwi as the Head of Department. In 2013, the Department of then, Department of Business Administration split-up into Departments of Banking and Finance, Business Administration and Marketing. This break-up has allowed for more specialisation in different aspects of Management

Mohammed Dahiru Madawaki (B.Sc. Business Administration (UNIMAID) 1998, Masterâ€™s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) (UNIJOS) 1993, Ph.D. Business Administration (UNIMAID) 2009) Mohammed Dahiru Madawaki is a Professor of Finance. He started his academic career in 1989 as a Graduate Assistant in the defunct Department of Business Management, University of Maiduguri and rose through the ranks to become a Professor of Finance in 2016. Professor Madawaki has held a numerous administrative and managerial positions in the University. Notable ones include, Head of the defuncted Department of Business Management (2012-2013), Head of Department, Department of Banking and Finance (2013-2019), Deputy Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship & Enterprise Development (CEED) (2011-2016), as well as Acting (Ag.) Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship & Enterprise Development (CEED) (2016-2017), Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship & Enterprise Development (CEED) (2017-2020), Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences (2019 to date). He was appointed as the pioneer Director of the University of Maiduguri Business School (UMBS) in January, 2022. As an astute academician, He has served in different capacities in a number of Universities across Nigeria. Some of such capacities include, Visiting Lecturer, Visiting Professor, External Examiner and External Assessor. Professor Madawaki, has to his credit several National and International publications in the discipline of Finance, Capital Market Investment, Business Mathematics and Quantitative Techniques. He is happily married with children.

Opeyemi Kehinde Akinniyi, (B.Sc. Accounting (UNIMAID) 1998, M.Sc. Accounting (UNILAG) 2003, Ph.D. (UNILAG) 2013, FCA, 2015) Opeyemi Kehinde Akinniyi is a Professor of Accounting. Currently the Sub-Dean of the Faculty and the Chairperson, Faculty of Management Science Research Clinic. She is a Fellow of the prestigious Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, a seasoned academician with several national and international publications. Professor Opeyemi is very passionate about excellence and a goal getter. She currently chairs the Local Organising Committee of the Facultyâ€™s First international conference. She joined the service of the University as Graduate Assistant in the then Department of Accountancy in 2000, and rose through the ranks to be a Professor of Accounting with emphasis on Public Sector Financial Management in 2019. She is blessed with a happy family.

Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed is a seasoned Administrator poised for achieving results and a nobleman. He hails from Hambagda in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State. He attended Hambagda Primary School, Borno Teachers College Maiduguri and University of Maiduguri where he obtained Bachelor Degree in Statistics in 1995 and further his education where he obtained a Master Degree in Industrial and Labour Relation MILR in 2007. Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed joined the University of Maiduguri in 1987 as an Administrative Officer and rose through the ranks. He is currently a Deputy Registrar and the Faculty Officer, Faculty of Management Sciences. He is married with Ten (10) Children. He is affiliated as follows: Member of the congregation of Business Committee Member committee on the Establishment of Institute of Education, University of Maiduguri.
